ProfileAllison Smith is a Storyteller, Fiber Artist and Author. She is a graduate of Ohio
State University and Graduate of Eastern Tennessee University with a Masters of Education in Storytelling/Reading. She is a veteran of the Army Reserves, member of the National Association of Black Storytellers, Cleveland Association of Black Storytellers, Trumbull County African American Achievers Association Hall of Fame, African American Quilt and Doll Guild, Ashtabula Leadership and founder of Outreach Quilt and Artist Guild. Allison is a Fiber Artist telling stories through her art. She has exhibited in several venues from museums to libraries and the Governor’s Residence in Ohio. She shares her skills through workshops, trunk shows and teaching. Allison also teaches healing stories as an Adjunct for Ashland University. She enjoys the “process of helping people to start the process to heal and move on to a happier place. Researching famous people and interviewing them is a healing process and allows one to tell their story. Becoming the character lets one relive their oral story.” Allison has performed in various re-enactments for the Ohio Civil War Reenactors as well as various solo characters.
