ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Jeannette Rankin was the first woman to hold federal office in the United States, representing Montana in the House of Representatives in 1916-1918 and again in 1940-1942. She was a suffragist and a pacifist, and remained active in anti-war movements throughout her life, inspiring the Jeannette Rankin Brigade which opposed the war in Vietnam.
