WOMEN IN HISTORY - ACTRESS PROFILE - JULIE WARREN
Julie Wang Warren, who joined Women in History in 2007, agrees thoroughly with Laurel Thatcher Ulrich’s quote that is popping up on bumper stickers: Well-behaved women seldom make history. Julie is thrilled to be a part of a group that brings to life the stories of women from so many walks of life, regardless of their past behavior. “Being the only girl in my family with four older brothers, I remember vividly wanting my voice to be heard and now I have the chance to do that for other women.”
Julie's parents were avid antique collectors and history enthusiasts so she has grown up with an appetite for learning about strong, female historical figures. Julie’s performing career began years ago in church musicals, community theater, drama club and choir. Since that time, some of her favorite portrayals have included Annie Sullivan in The Miracle Worker, Maria in The Sound of Music and Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors. Julie received a BA in English from Heidelberg College. After a professional career in development, marketing and event planning, in 1999, Julie and her husband Shawn opened a sign company called Erie Design located in Lakewood. Julie balances her time between that business, being a Realtor and raising her two daughters. Along with active involvement in PTA, Lakewood Alive and her local church, she has served on the Board of Directors to the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce and as President of the Junior Women’s Club of Lakewood.
