WOMEN IN HISTORY - ACTRESS PROFILE - LESLIE STAGER
ProfileLeslie is excitedly joining WIH in 2025. She lived for 11 years in New Zealand and seeing her American culture from afar asked herself the question: ‘how did Americans get their ‘personality’ or our culture as a nation?’ She sought to answer this question by reading about the beginnings of the country during the revolutionary era and educating herself on the founding struggles of the United States. This snowballed into a passion since 2011 for early American history. However, once she was acquainted with the major points of our founding, she began to dig into the influences of the women of the era and has discovered the strength of women’s contributions to our founding as a country. While primarily interested in the founding era, she has also discovered the complexity and dynamic contributions of other women during the Civil war, and ‘modern’ women who she hopes to bring to fruition for WIH. She especially enjoys the research and writing of the WIH process and creating the representation of a live person so audiences can learn about our present from our history. She is a fledgling screenwriter with many ideas for telling women’s stories through this medium.
Leslie received her MFA in Acting from the Goodman School of Drama in Chicago and her PhD from the California School of Professional Psychology in Organizational Psychology. She has performed in plays, TV commercials, and film. Her favorite role is Portia in The Merchant of Venice. She lives with her husband, George, and her dog, Mabel, and is an avid runner.
